Pistol aka Black Pepper Rain
A BROKE Derby eligible (5 yo) grey cowhorse and finished ranch gelding for sale. A half brother to Famoso Starlight, my black stallion with nearly $80K in earnings, out of the same dam. He went to the Snaffle Bit Futurity, was top 10 at the Stock Horse Futurity (Ltd Open), has been shown extensively at the California CowHorse Association and qualified for the NRCHA World Show last year. He is a talented horse for the show pen, excellent nose in the hackamore, ready to be shown in the two-rein next year and has been extensively used in every aspect of cowboying and ranch work. Hundreds of miles in rough terrain and working the feedlot; gather, sort, cut, rope both ends on the ranch and out of the box, many brandings, ranch rodeos, etc. He's not a big horse but he will put his head down and pull a big dragging steer on the head side. You name it, he's done it. He is a reliable horse to go get any job done or take to the show pen. Pistol is gentle, quiet and solid enough for a novice/non-pro rider, doesn't require living at the trainer's but will step up to more Open caliber when in training. Outside of the show pen he is suitable for advanced beginner rider on upend has the "bells and whistles" an experienced hand would enjoy. He is not a hot horse at all or one that freshens up with a few days off, he is the "go to" horse when it comes to getting a job done that requires a steady, experienced horse. BIG stopper, turns around pretty, changes leads easily and is great on a cow. Perfect for a non-pro because there is as much horse as you want under you but he will not make any huge moves until that is asked of him. Rides bareback and down the trail great, will drag anything, open gates, etc. Willing, easy to ride, finished gelding ready to go any direction: to the show pen or to the ranch. This horse has ZERO soundness issues; big, round, solid feet and good sized bones. No buck, run off, rear, ground issues, etc.
